On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, pastors met with the NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama as part of his campaign for re-election in the forthcoming December 7 elections.

The meeting has since drawn criticism from some Ghanaians, particularly due to the prophecies shared during the gathering.

Notably, Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah, the founder of Glorious Word Ministry International, prayed for Mahama and prophesied his victory in the upcoming elections and this further triggered the reactions.

In response to the event, popular Ghanaian media personality and anti-galamsey advocate Okatakyie Afrifa has claimed that some pastors attended the meeting for political gain.

In a viral video, he also stated that God had not spoken to the pastors about election outcomes, specifically criticising Owusu-Bempah, who claimed to have received a prophecy stating that Mahama would win the upcoming elections.

Afrifa pointed out that all the pastors present at the meeting with Mahama, particularly Rev. Owusu-Bempah, Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah, Rev. Obofuor, and others, were there solely for personal benefits.

He stated, “Owusu-Bempah was a card-bearing member of the NPP, but because of some reasons, he has declared that he is no longer a member. God has not spoken to him, he was there because of a political benefit”.

He continued, “The reason why Sam-Korankye Ankrah is rooting for the NDC to come into power is because it was during the time of NDC, that they sold the biggest steal manufacturing company in West Africa to him to start his Royal house Chapel so he was present because he will gain if the NDC comes into power.

“Likewise Bishop Charles Agyinasare, i can say he was also there because he would benefit if the NDC came into power. So i can confidently say that God has not spoken to any of these prophets who went to the meeting. They are there because of personal benefits,”.He said

Okatakyie Afrifa also implied that Bishop Charles Agyinasare was present for similar reasons, asserting, “I can confidently say that God has not spoken to any of these prophets; they are there for personal gain.”
