Ghanaians Pour Out Their Frustrations On Organized Labour

Ghanaians have massively reacted to the unexpected decision by Organized Labour to suspend its planned nationwide strike which was scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, October 10.

Organised Labour has suspended its much-anticipated nationwide strike following an emergency meeting held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, where union leaders assessed the situation and agreed to call off the industrial action.

The Union said it is satisfied with the plans rolled out by the Akufo Addo-led administration to tackle the menace, including ramping up the Operational Halt initiative, led by the Ghana Armed Forces, to combat illegal mining activities in forest reserves.

The Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress, Joshua Ansah, speaking during a press conference after the meeting mentioned that the union will closely monitor the plans by the government and that will inform their next line of action.

The surprising announcement has triggered massive reactions from Ghanaians. Many Ghanaians took to social media platforms to chastise the Labour Unions for taking such an unexpected decision.

“I was anticipating something like this so I’m not surprised at all. After all we all day inside. This strike was not intended to destabilise the government it was a call to action so that we all will be safe but since this is their stand so be it”

“One man one vote will resolve all these issues come 7th December,2024.”

“Money has changed hands.”

“What issues has the government resolved? Their bellies are full. A country called Ghana. Unless a military rule, like the one in Burkina Faso.”
