Accra, Oct. 9, GNA – Mr John Ajet-Nasam, a Lawyer, has donated twenty computers to the Nsawam Prisons Education Unit to help them in the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Mr Ajet-Nasam said the computers were to help the institution to thrive and change lives as well as change the perception of the prison’s intuition.
He said the computers would make prisoners learn and come out to be beneficiary to society.
He said the donation was triggered out of love and humility, and as a form of thanksgiving from his family.
Supt. Paul Nuobepour, Officer in Charge of Education, Nsawam prisons, speaking with the media said there were about 181 inmates who were offering various programmes in the tertiary level of the Prison, while eighty-one were enrolled in ICT and seventy in basic school education.
Looking at the numbers increasing, he called for measures to uplift the senior high school to become a full-fledged high school for effective teaching and learning.
He said the school also lacked exercise books and urged stakeholders to support the school.
He appealed for a school feeding programme initiative to help with the smooth running of the school system.
Mr Patrick Thomas Seidu, Assistant Director of Prisons, Nsawam, upon receiving the computers thanked Mr Ajet-Nasam and family for the kind gesture.
He said the prison had a formal education and through that will help them be abreast with computer literacy and surf the internet diligently.
He thanked him for his thoughtfulness and prayed for Gods’ guidance upon his family.
