Support Bawumia’s Digitalization Agenda – Kalybos

Actor Richard Kweku Asante, popularly known as Kalybos, has called on bloggers, musicians, and creatives to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s digitalization agenda. Speaking at a dinner organized by the Ghana Bloggers Association and Bawumia’s support group, Kalybos stressed the transformative potential of digitalization in Ghana’s creative and tech industries.

Highlighting the importance of the agenda, Kalybos noted how digital tools could enhance the operations of the Ghana Rights Organization (GHAMRO), ensuring better royalty collection for musicians.

“Digitalization will provide GHAMRO with the necessary tools to effectively collect royalties, ensuring that musicians are properly compensated for their work. It’s time we fully embrace this agenda for the benefit of all,” he stated.

Kalybos emphasized how supporting Bawumia’s digital vision could expand its reach and tap into the global digital marketplace.

“Supporting Bawumia’s digitalization vision is a win for the blogging industry. It will open new markets and enable us to export our content more easily, gaining more international recognition,” he remarked.

Kalybos also lauded Dr Bawumia’s plan to appoint a Digital Ambassador to promote Ghana’s digital talents and content globally. This initiative, he said, would help Ghanaian creatives to compete on the world stage.

He also praised Bawumia’s commitment to youth training, pointing out that the plan to equip one million young people with digital skills would significantly benefit bloggers, musicians, and other digital industry professionals.

In closing, Kalybos urged his fellow creatives to support Bawumia’s vision, noting the need for stronger digital infrastructure in Ghana. He cited Nigeria’s success with Netflix and Amazon hubs as examples, calling for similar developments in Ghana to drive its creative industries forward.

“We need agencies like Netflix and Amazon hubs here to make meaningful strides in the digital space,” Kalybos concluded, encouraging all in the creative industry to back Bawumia’s vision for a digitally empowered Ghana.
