Hollywood actor Idris Elba
British-Sierra Leonean actor Idris Elba is currently in Ghana for the National Film Authority of Ghana’s second annual Africa Cinema Summit, which began on October 7 and will conclude on October 10 in Accra.
Under the theme, “Cinema Relevant in African Communities,” the event kicked off on Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
Idris Elba, a Golden Globe winner and chairman of the IE7 and The Akuna Group, is headlining the four-day event alongside Fiona Lamptey, a former Netflix executive and co-founder of Juno Studios, along with other prominent industry stakeholders.
Elba’s arrival was celebrated with a welcoming cultural performance at the Kotoka International Airport, where he was seen in an all-white outfit and a black cap.
He was welcomed by executives from the Ghana Film Authority.
The first day of the summit featured Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts, and Culture, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, and his Deputy, Mark Okraku-Mantey, along with members of the creative arts industry from across Africa.
