Residents of Hohoe apprehend UHAS student for reportedly destroying Amewu’s posters

Residents of Hohoe have reportedly arrested a student of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), for allegedly destroying the posters of John Peter Amewu, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Hohoe Municipality in the Volta Region.

According to a report by citinewsroom.com, the student also destroyed multiple posters in the area.

Reacting to the action of the student, some local youth apprehended and physically assaulted him, an event that was captured in a video.

The New Patriotic Party in the Hohoe District said they are ignorant about the arrest regardless of the incident. However, a reliable source who preferred to remain anonymous due to safety confirmed the arrest of the student to citinews.

The incident highlights the increased tension and conflict that emerge during election periods, especially with regions with intense rivalries.

Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.
