Napo chides Mahama for seeking prayers from clergy

Vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has hit hard at former President John Mahama for seeking prayers from the clergy without any shame.

Napo as he is popularly known questioned why the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate will seek for prayers from the same people he criticised a few weeks back.

He was addressing grand durbar of chiefs, religious leaders, and NPP supporters in Afrancho in the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency of the Ashanti Region.

According to him, the former President is without shame, and that is why Ghanaians cannot trust such a person to lead them again.

He questioned the logic behind calling religious leaders as hypocrites for praying for a particular candidate, and yet the same person will go and kneel before them for prayers.

Napo’s remarks follows Mr Mahama’s meeting in Accra with the clergy during which prayers were said for him ahead of the December 7 election.

But Dr. Opoku Prempeh said that former President Mahama is not the leader Ghanaians can trust because of his choice of words, which breeds violence and division instead of promoting peace.

Meanwhile, some of the religious leaders praised the NPP’s campaign approach to seek the face of God before pastors wherever they go.

Rev. Matthew Ofosu of the Christian Light Church at Afrancho, who spoke on behalf of the clergy said such an act shows that the party has God in all their endeavours.

The Chief of Bomso, Nana Osei Akoto lauded the NPP government for it’s contributions to the development of the Kwabre area and appealed for more.
