‘Dishonest conmen’ – Allotey Jacobs attacks clergymen who met with Mahama

A former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has launched a scathing attack on clergymen who met with the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo on Thursday, October 3, 2024, Allotey Jacobs described the clergymen as hypocrites and conmen who use God’s name to deceitfully mislead people.

Highlighting the modus operandi of some of these clergymen, Allotey Jacobs stated that they connive with politicians to receive money for their selfish interests, then return to pray and utter words they claim are from God, deceiving innocent Ghanaians.

“We have con pastors in Ghana, so, I don’t believe in those things. Nobody knows God’s secret except himself. So, all those ‘God has spoken to me and power being given to you’ are all lies. When they pass behind closed doors to receive money, they return to pray and deceive people,” he said.

Allotey Jacobs further added that the actions of some clergymen have tarnished the image of many members of the clergy, causing them to lose respect among the public.

He emphasised that no man of God can know God’s secrets; thus, the efforts of the presidential candidates will determine their victory in the elections, not a self-proclaimed prophecy from a man of God claiming it is from God.

“We are not respecting the clergy in this country. Some of the clergies in this country are dishonest and conmen but well, let everybody go about their work because whatever work you do now, you will account for it on December 7…,” he added.

His comments come in the wake of Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah’s declarations about the December polls.

During a meeting with clergymen, the Founder and Leader of Glorious Word Power Ministry International, Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah, prophesied that the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, will emerge as the winner in the December general elections.

According to Owusu-Bempah, God has endorsed John Mahama to be the next president of Ghana because of his good heart.

“When the prayer was going on. This is what the Lord has told me. Because of the good heart of this man, the Lord has entrusted the country in his hands again. Nothing can stop it,” he stated.
