Community Forum: Don’t allow politics to divide you

The Dakpema of the Tamale Metropolis in the Northern region has admonished the youth to prioritise peace and unity as Ghana approaches the December 7 general elections.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Community Forum on Thursday, October 3, the chief indicated that the people had been co-existing peacefully before the introduction of partisan politics and advised them not to be divided by their divergent political views.

For the upcoming elections, the chief advised his subjects to remain calm and peaceful before, during, and after the polls.

He urged that they remain united and emphasised that there should be no violence during the elections in any place within his jurisdiction.

Abdulai Dabali who is a secretary at the Dapkema Palace, also appealed to the government to prioritise health infrastructure development in the area to alleviate the plight of the people.

“The government has done its part but we still need more because when you go to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH), you will still see people lying on the bare floor due to the lack of beds. So at least it will not be bad to equip the Central Hospital because its current state does not befit a regional hospital.

“TTH is a referral facility for the entire northern part but oxygen is a problem. The plant that was fixed years ago has broken down and they now have to go for oxygen with cylinders, so anyone who takes over the governance of the country after 2024 should have an interest in equipping TTH and any other hospital within the Tamale metropolis.”

Residents also accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of reneging and failing to redeem the promises he made to them in 2020.
