Old Tafo Member of Parliament, Ekow Vincent Assafuah, has underscored the need for unity and peace before, during, and after the 2024 general elections.

The lawmaker said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was optimistic that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would emerge victorious and be declared president.

He was, however, quick to add that the Vice President will require a peaceful atmosphere in ruling; hence, it was important for them to promote peace and unity regardless of the party one belonged to.

He was speaking at an event organised by the Women’s Organiser for NPP, Madam Kate Gyamfua, in the constituency to launch the Women’s Wing in the constituency.

Ekow Vincent Assafuah posited that unity was paramount and the people, especially the party supporters, should eschew all forms of violence and the politics of insults.

“We have all decided that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will win the elections come December.

“But we want him to win an election and govern a country that is peaceful, a country that is stable. So, this event is crucial since it will demonstrate to people that we are united in the constituency. Our women are gathered, and I am even certain that there are women from both the NDC and NPP,” he stated.

He also charged party supporters to campaign massively for the party to ensure that the NPP secures victory come December 7, 2024.
