A leading member of the New Patriotic Party, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has revealed that doctors found his excessive consumption of catfish to be a contributory factor behind his recent sickness, which saw him seeking care in America.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show on Monday, September 30, 2024, the Chief Executive Officer of GIHOC Distilleries said his sickness was caused by high iodine content in his body as a result of his regular consumption of catfish.

“Kwame, you know I was also sick, and do you know what made me sick? When I went to America and they conducted tests on me, they said I was eating too much catfish,” he told the host, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, who also admitted his love for catfish following the revelation.

“Kwame, take it easy. They say the iodine content in it is very high, so I’ve now stopped eating it. I only have it once in a while. You see, I am regaining my weight and my mouth is getting louder,” he added.

In 2023, pictures emerged showing Kofi Jumah in a feeble and pale state, causing concerns about his health.

The before and after images of the outspoken politician saw several users on social media taking to their pages to wish him a speedy recovery.
