I am coming up step by step

Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has expressed optimism about his gradual return to form after battling injury setbacks that limited his appearances last season.

The 26-year-old sustained an injury during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which hindered his progress and affected his playing time at both club and international levels.

Since recovering, Ashimeru has been carefully managed by his club, Anderlecht, to avoid a recurrence of injury. This season, he has made six appearances, but only two as a starter, as the team takes a cautious approach to his fitness.

Despite this, the midfielder is positive about the direction his recovery is taking and is determined to contribute more.

Reflecting on his progress, Ashimeru said, “It has been good overall because last year I had too many injuries, so I’m now coming up step by step. Overall, I feel really good to play for this club, the city, and for the supporters. I’m just hoping I can make the next step.”

The Ghana international has been a key figure for Anderlecht when fit and is now working hard to regain his form, which has seen him praised by both fans and coaches alike. His ability to control the midfield, coupled with his technical skills, makes him a vital player for the Belgian side.

With the season still unfolding, Ashimeru is determined to put his injury woes behind him and make a strong impact, both for his club and potentially for the Ghana national team, as he aims for a full recovery and return to consistent top-level performances.
