Ghana’s Nhyiramma Foundation receives Africa Peace Advocate Award

The Nhyiramma Foundation’s efforts in promoting peace, education, and community development across Ghana have been recognized by the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA).

The Foundation was honored with the prestigious ‘Africa Peace Advocate Award 2024’ during a ceremony held at the National Theater, where dignitaries, peace advocates, and humanitarian organizations from across Africa gathered to celebrate outstanding achievements in peace-building and development.

In addition to its core mandate of supporting women and children, the Foundation’s commitment to fostering peace, tolerance, and understanding has made a significant impact in Ghana, earning them the esteemed IAWPA Ghana Peace Award.

Presenting the award, H.E. Amb. Sam Owusu, Country Director of IAWPA, Ghana, stated, “We are honored to recognize Nhyiramma Foundation’s selfless efforts in promoting peace and development. Their dedication to empowering communities and fostering social cohesion aligns with IAWPA’s vision of a harmonious and prosperous Africa.”

Other distinguished personalities recognized at the event included renowned peace advocates, humanitarians, and leaders who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to promoting peace and harmony.

The recognition by the International Association of World Peace Advocates highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting peace, education, and community development.

Madam Nana Adwoa Tutuwaa, CEO and Founder of Nhyiramma Foundation, who is also a recipient of several awards, including the Shero of the Year 2019 at the Ghana Outstanding Women Awards (GOWA), Best Humanitarian Woman 2019 by Humanitarian Awards Ghana, and Woman in Philanthropy Award at the National Philanthropy Awards 2019, accepted the award on behalf of the Foundation.

In her appreciation speech, she expressed, “We are humbled by this recognition and grateful for IAWPA’s acknowledgment of our work.

Awards like this motivate us to continue serving humanity and promoting peace in Ghana and beyond.

“Driven by her deep-seated commitment to the well-being of women and children, Nana Adwoa Tutuwaa founded the Nhyiramma Foundation in 2015 as a nonprofit organization headquartered in Accra, Ghana.

“Since its inception, the Foundation has provided essential support to women and children facing poverty by offering food, shelter, education, and medical aid.Largely funded by Nana Adwoa herself, the Foundation stands as a beacon of hope, empowering over 2,000 women and children across Ghana through various initiatives.

These projects include educational scholarships for needy but brilliant students, efforts to elevate schools in deprived communities, rural outreach programs, medical aid, and vocational training workshops for women, helping them acquire skills and become financially independent.

The Foundation extends an invitation to individuals and corporate organizations interested in partnering with its projects to further impact communities in need.
