Lamisi
Female Ghanaian artiste, Lamisi, has held her annual musical concert dubbed ‘Concert For Change’ at the Alliance Française in Accra.
The concert, held on September 13, 2024 and attended by a large number music fans, was used to launch her charity foundation, the Lamisi Fata Foundation.
The foundation aims to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene education and the distribution of reusable and disposable sanitary pads for girls, particularly in deprived communities in northern Ghana.
The event was laced with performances of authentic African music inspired by Lamisi’s roots and Kusasi culture in Northern Ghana, as she thrilled the crowd with an energetic performance along with her neo-traditional quartet band.
Before the concert, Lamisi hosted a conference dubbed ‘Pad it Forward’ where experts from the health, human rights among others educated students from Ashaiman, Nima and Kanda on menstrual hygiene.
The conference and concert both brought together officials from the French Embassy, Amnesty International Ghana, women’s groups, students and the media.
