Len Clay stadium to serve as home venue for Kotoko| 3News

Kotoko have adopted the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium as their temporary home venue for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season following the closure of the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors who have traditionally hosted home matches in Kumasi at the Baba Yara have been forced to find an alternative venue after the National Sports Authority (NSA) decided to close down the stadium for renovations.

The closure follows concerns raised by Ghanaians and stakeholders who were dissatisfied with the nature of the pitch when the Black Stars hosted Angola. In the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Ghana were handed a temporary approval to host the Palancas Negras at the venue in a clash which saw the Black Stars lose shockingly.

However, the poor nature of the pitch stole the headlines which eventually prompted the NSA to take action.

Subsequently, CAF placed a ban on the stadium essentially forcing Ghana to get a new venue for their next home assignment against Sudan in October.

With the closure affecting Kotoko, they have decided to use the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi which is deemed as a perfect option for the club and its fans.

The former champions will host newly promoted Young Apostles in their first game on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
