‘Enough is Enough’ Demo: The next protest will be extended to EC‘s district and constituency offices – Asiedu Nketia

Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has encouraged party supporters to join the relentless effort of the party in demanding for a forensic audit of the voters’ register.

Speaking to party sympathisers at the protest on September 17, Asiedu Nketia noted that the NDC will not “go to sleep” after this protest to demand a forensic audit.

According to him, the protest will be extended to the district and constituency offices of the Electoral Commission if no action is taken.

“We are demanding our rights for a free and fair elections. We are warning them that today is just the beginning. If they think that after the demonstration, everybody will go to sleep they are joking.

“The next demonstration will go to district and constituency offices of the Electoral Commission and we will fight and fight until the right thing is done…There is no sitting on the fence,” he charged the party supporters.

The NDC’s demonstration against the Electoral Commission (EC) is ongoing in all 16 regional capitals across the country today, Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

This follows a directive by the NDC leadership to carry out this protest in all the regional offices to present a petition to the Commission to register its displeasure over what it describes as a bloated register with discrepancies.

Meanhwhile, the Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has said the NDC will explore other available options to compel the Electoral Commission (EC) to allow a forensic audit of the voters’ register.

Speaking in an interview with TV3 at the ongoing demonstration by the party against the EC, Dr. Ato Forson said although Parliament is currently on recess, the party will ensure the House reconvenes to deliberate on the matter if it has to in order for the forensic audit to be done.

“If we have to recall Parliament then we will,” he told Eric Mawuena Egbeta on September 17.
