VEHICULAR TRAFFIC flow in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, was severely impeded on Saturday, September 14, 2024 as scores of people stormed the streets for a health walk.
Organised by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Manhyia South Constituency, the early morning health walk was led by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the NPP running mate.
Clearly, the swelling number of people who participated in the walk overwhelmed the organisers.
Perhaps, the patronage was a signal that the NPP is still strong in the Ashanti Region and they are ready to retain political power.
After marching through the selected principal streets, the participants, who were mostly dressed in the NPP’s red, white and blue colours, converged at Abbey’s Park.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh aka Napo, in his address, expressed delight at the high patronage of the health walk, and said the people should translate their huge participation into votes.
He said the NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, should win the polls with a landslide so that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and their leader, John Mahama, would retire from politics.
“Let’s retire John Mahama and his NDC with a humiliation defeat on December 7,” Napo remarked, attracting a spontaneous applause of approval from the crowd.
Sounding very confident, he stated emphatically that after winning the 2024 election, the NDC can never bounce back.
The NPP running mate said the country’s development always stall whenever the NDC assumes the mantle of leadership, so Mahama should be rejected.
According to him, John Mahama and his NDC do not have plans to transform the country, stressing the strong need for the electorate to retain the NPP in political office.
Napo said President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia have laid a firm foundation for an accelerated transformation within a short time, urging the supporters to vote for the NPP.
NPP kingpins like Justin Frimpong Kodua, Henry Nana Boakye aka Nana B and Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori-Atta aka Tomtom, Manhyia South NPP Chairman, were also present.
Significantly, the various speakers stated that the NDC is made up of incompetent people who don’t know how to govern a country, so the electorate should reject them.
