Minerals Commission to open new office at Bibiani to boost mining regulation

The Minerals Commission is set to open a new office in Bibiani in the Western North Region on September 18, 2024.

The move is part of the government’s efforts to decentralise the Commission’s operations and significantly improve service delivery.

The new office will regulate three major mining operations in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality, namely, the Ghana Bauxite, Asante Gold Bibiani Mine, and Asante Gold Chirano Mine.

The Commission aims to provide more efficient services and address issues related to mining licenses and documentation more promptly with the establishment of the new office.

Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, Martin Kwaku Ayisi, expressed optimism that the new office will enhance the Commission’s operations.

He highlighted the government’s commitment to improving Ghana’s mining sector through investment in resources and technology.

This investment , he maintained, is expected to speed up the processing of mining licenses and documents.

Mr Ayisi believes that the new office will end the need for mining companies in the Western North Region to travel to Accra for their paperwork.

He is confident that this development will positively impact the mining sector in the long term.
