Let’s work hard to retain Walewale seat

Dr Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Walewale Constituency, has called on supporters to work together to retain the seat.

This follows his confirmation by the party as the parliamentary candidate for the constituency.

In a statement on Wednesday, he noted, “I must first and foremost thank the incumbent MP, Hon. Hajia Lariba Zuweira Abudu for abandoning her grievances to pave the way for the current decision by the NEC.

“I must particularly commend the spirit (‘greater good of the New Patriotic Party, peace and unity…’) of her decision as contained in the letter addressed to the General Secretary of the NPP.”

“I would also commend the leadership of the NPP, especially the NEC, the President, and the Vice President for managing us out of the impasse and ensuring that the Walewale Constituency now has a candidate for the upcoming December 7th election. To my supporters and sympathizers, you have been incredible. However, it is not yet time to rejoice. Let us roll up our sleeves and work hard to retain the seat.”

Dr Mahama said he was committed to ensuring that the party expeditiously reconciled the differences between himself and the incumbent MP.

“I understand that the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections would be won on our collective efforts and contributions. To this end, I would consult and work with all stakeholders to retain the seat for the NPP.”

“The goal is not to be the parliamentary candidate for the Walewale constituency but to protect the legacy of the Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and both past and current MPs of the constituency as the next member of parliament. I therefore urge my supporters to be magnanimous as well rally everyone towards the greater victory on December 7, 2024,” he stated.
