Assin South Drivers applaud NDC PC for securing them licenses

By Isaac Arkoh

Cape Coast, Sept. 12, GNA-Hundreds of drivers in the Assin South Constituency have praised Mr Stephen Kofi Baidoo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for his benevolent facilitation in their acquisition of driver’s licenses on Wednesday.

The visibly elated beneficiaries, mostly young men, expressed thanks as they greeted the Parliamentary Candidate to convey their appreciation.

The initiative was launched to aid all motorists in the Constituency, regardless of their political inclinations.

With a substantial investment of thousands of Ghana Cedis, the gesture is to help mostly the youth to benefit.

Subsequent groups of motorists and other skills training initiatives are slated to receive similar support.

Mr Patrick Kwame Ankomahene, a beneficiary from Assin Bosomadwe shared how this initiative had alleviated the significant financial burden that had impeded his efforts to obtain a license.

“When I first received the news, I could not believe it could be true given the financial burden and the challenges involved.

“But here I am today, a licensed driver, able to drive confidently without any hindrance,” he stated with a grin.

Another beneficiary, Mr Samuel Aidoo from the Dosii community, was overjoyed as he proudly exhibited his temporary driver’s license.

He noted that the number of beneficiaries was unprecedented in the Constituency, underscoring his prior unsuccessful endeavours to acquire a license.

Delving into his motivation, Mr Baidoo, the PC said, “I resolved to aid motorists in my constituency several months ago after visiting their respective lorry stations.

“I also witnessed a distressing incident of a relative being involved in a road accident without a driver’s license.”

The initiative according to him, formed part of a series of innovative strategies and interventions aimed at alleviating the financial burden on many individuals in the area.

Mr Baidoo underscored the lack of progress within the constituency under the current administration, emphasising the necessity to elect the NDC to initiate a “reset.”

He implored the youth, who have borne the brunt of the government’s economic mismanagement, to overwhelmingly support and vote for the NDC to steer the country back onto the path of growth and prosperity.

He expressed confidence in the NDC’s prospects of securing victory in both the presidential and parliamentary elections in the forthcoming December polls in the constituency.
