Nsaba (C/R), Sept. 12, GNA- The Omanhene of Agona Nsaba Traditional Area, Okeseku Afari Mintah III, has commended the government for providing equipment for the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) to facilitate the construction of roads in the various communities of the district.
He said the DRIP would ease the carting of farm produce to the market centres without hindrance and curtail post-harvest losses.
The Omanhene made remarks at the inauguration of the DRIP equipment for the Agona East District Assembly at Nsaba in the Central region.
Okeseku Afari Mintah said, ‘’Chiefs are barred from doing active politics, but I can confidently say that the government under President Akufo-Addo has done well to provide this road equipment’’.
He called for regular maintenance and effective monitoring and supervision to ensure that they served their purpose to benefit the people.
The Omanhene called for peaceful elections devoid of insults, acrimony, and intimidation so that the country would thrive economically.
He urged the party to remain united to enable them to achieve their objectives and aims to push the nation forward.
Mrs Janet Odei Paintsil, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Agona East said the DRIP equipment would reduce complaints over bad roads emanating from various communities to her office.
She said 18 drivers had been engaged to take full responsibility for the DRIP equipment and a committee formed to manage the machines to serve their purpose to the district.
The DCE said the government would continue to pursue excellent policies and programmes to benefit Ghanaians, especially the people of Agona East.
She called on the people to vote for Dr Bawumia as president and Mrs Hannah Asamoah as MP for them to continue to bring more relief programmes to better their living conditions.
Mrs Hannah Asamoah, the Agona East Parliamentary Aspirant for NPP urged the chiefs and people of the district to rally support for the party to ensure total victory.
She said the NPP was the only political party which always created better conditions through social interventions to reduce abject poverty among rural folks.
The PC said the government under President Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia deserved another landslide victory on December 7 elections, because they have demonstrated better governance.
She called on the supporters of the other political parties and floating voters to join NPP to help write a success story, adding that it was Dr Bawumia’s Committee that mooted the DRIP idea to help construct roads nationwide to aid the easy transportation of goods and services.
The PC said it was in the same vein as the novel FREE SHS policy, introduced for Ghanaians by the ruling party to eliminate the sacking of school fees menace in secondary education.
Prof Kwesi Yankah, former Minister of Education in charge of Tertiary, said the introduction of DRIP equipment was one of the best programmes to ensure regular construction of roads in every corner of the country.
He urged the people of Agona East to vote massively for Dr Bawumia and Mrs Asamoah as President and MP respectively to avert mismanagement of the equipment by any other political party.
Prof Yankah called on the supporters of Agona East NPP to learn to forgive each other and unite so that their opponents NDC could be defeated again in the impending elections.
The former Minister announced that he would organise an ‘NKABOM float” in September and October 2024 in the constituency to ginger supporters to unite and give the opposition NDC a real showdown in the elections in December.
