A young boy who welcomed Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during his historic visit to Cape Coast as part of the Fetu festival made Otumfuo hold his flag for him when he left to visit the washroom.

In the video capturing the scene, the boy, who is said to have pleased Otumfuo with his welcome dance, was asked by the king to sit closer to him.

However, when the boy wanted to vacate his seat to attend to the washroom, he asked the Asantehene to hold his flag until his return.

In a brief conversation with the king, the boy said something to Otumfuo, handed over his flag to him, and then left the scene. The other chiefs present couldn’t hold their laughter and burst out laughing.

Otumfuo, on the other hand, smiled and humbly held onto the flag until the boy returned and took it from him. One of the chiefs, however, asked the Asantehene to hand over the flag to him, but he declined and held onto it.

According to reports, the little boy, known as Chief Justice, performed a traditional dance with a red Asafo flag to welcome Otumfuo.

After presenting Otumfuo with the red flag initially, he touched it three times. The inscription on the flag was “Akwaaba Otumfuo.”
