The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) Workers’ Union is demanding immediate payment of allowances owed to 77 employees who worked on the African Games project.
Despite Management’s promise to pay each worker GHC 100 per day, the payment has not been made.
At a press conference, Union Chairman Samuel Nathaniel Kevor expressed deep disappointment with Management, citing broken promises and unfair treatment.
He highlighted the negotiations, which started with GHC 59 and increased to GHC 70, but still fell short of the initial promise.
Kevor emphasised the workers’ frustration, stating, “All African Games, we were told there was no contract by our management. They were told no money was paid. They started with 59 cedis negotiations.”
“They came back to say 70 cedis. I’m presenting the disagreements with management on behalf of the workers. For us, we feel the heat. We are saying that we disagree with that position and the world knows that we’ve worked, we’ve done enough, and we cannot continue.”
The Union is seeking prompt payment of the allowances to rectify the situation and ensure justice for the affected workers.
