The Founder of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga, has shared his recent experience at the Tema Harbour while clearing his cars from the port.

According to him, he was charged GH¢400,000 to clear a car intended for his 2024 election campaign, with GH¢40,000 of that amount being COVID-19 Levy.

In a yet-to-be-aired interview on GhanaWeb TV’s Election Desk, on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, Ayariga claimed that “Till date, government of Ghana is still charging people COVID Levy, so what are you telling me? I just cleared my car. I paid almost GH¢400,000 to clear one car and the COVID charges on it was almost GH¢40,000.”

When asked about the type of car, Ayariga said that it was a standard four-wheel drive intended for his campaign.

“It was just a normal four-wheel drive for my campaign and each car had a duty; some depending on the duty. Some, I paid GH¢16,000, some GH¢22,000 and some GH¢30 and 40,000 COVID Levy,” he told Etsey Atisu, host of the programme.
