How I started my pharmaceutical company, real estates with GH¢1 – Tobinco boss –

The Founder and Executive Chairman of the Tobinco Group of Companies, Samuel Amo Tobbin, has said he started his journey to building a pharmaceutical company with an amount of GH¢1.

Narrating how he built his pharmaceutical empire in an exclusive interview with Zionfelix, Samuel Amo Tobbin said that he was introduced to the business of selling medicines by a Muslim called Alhaji Baba.

“Selling medicine was introduced to me by a Muslim called Alhaji Baba, in those days, he lived behind our house and there was no street connecting to his house for car passage, so my sibling and I used to assist him carry his stuffs home anytime he returned from town, and that is how we became friends.

“Briefly after I completed basic school, I had made GH¢1 from selling P.K and other things. Note, I am not talking of GH¢1 in today’s value, I am talking of it as at 1984,” he narrated in the interview with Zionfelix.

He continued, “So, I informed Alhaji Baba that I have made one cedi from my sales and I am not sure I can continue with secondary education then. I asked him about what I can do with my one cedi. It was then he bought some medicines for me to sell, and that is how it all started.”

The millionaire owner of Tobinco also acknowledged the help and guidance he got from the brothers of Ernest Bediako Sampong, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ernest Chemist Limited.

He said, “I received so much assistance from the brothers of Ernest Chemist. They helped me so much. They sold drugs for me to sell, they sometimes sold the drugs to me on credit. The Ernest Chemist brothers really assisted me in becoming who I am now.”
