Konadu Rawlings took everything she gave me after I joined NPP – Maame Dokono –

Legendary Ghanaian actress, Grace Omaboe, widely known as Maame Dokono, has shared how former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings withdrew all support after discovering her affiliation with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a recent interview, Maame Dokono recounted how her connection with Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings initially drew her into the inner circle of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Her political journey began during Jerry John Rawlings’ presidency when she aligned herself with the NDC and received considerable support, including sponsorship for her successful show, “By the Fire Side.”

Maame Dokono gained widespread fame from her role in the popular Akan drama series “Obra” on GTV and as the host of “By The Fire Side.”

However, her decision to join the NPP marked a significant turning point. After accepting an invitation from the NPP, Nana Konadu withdrew all her support and reclaimed everything she had previously provided.

Maame Dokono’s political allegiance shifted to the NPP in 2008 when Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo became the party’s flagbearer. This change, however, led to substantial backlash following the NPP’s electoral defeat, with many attributing the party’s loss to her.

As Maame Dokono approaches her 60th anniversary in the entertainment industry on September 7, 2024, celebrations will include a health screening event and the release of her book to mark this significant milestone.
