‘You must be in a certain ring to say Ghana is doing well’ – Prof. Mensah laments economic inequality –

Executive Director of the Centre for Investment Advisory and Sustainable Finance (CIASF), Professor Lord Mensah, has expressed strong criticism of the economic inequality in Ghana.

In a post on his official handle on July 29, 2024, he highlighted the disparity between the elite and the average citizen, stating that the system benefits only a select few.

“The system works for very few. You must be in a certain ring to say Ghana is doing well,” Professor Mensah remarked.

He pointed out the struggles of social media political operatives who earn GH¢800 a month, while their superiors enjoy significantly greater benefits.

“Your boss is eating the bread and giving you crumbs,” he posted.

Professor Mensah also criticized the hoarding of foreign currency by the elite, leaving the general population with a devalued cedi and an uncertain future.

“They are hoarding the dollars and giving you cedi without a future. Think!” he urged.

His comments come amid calls by Ghanaians for economic reforms and greater equity in the distribution of wealth in Ghana.
