You’ll have opportunity to vindicate yourself

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says its suspended Assin Central Secretary, Sadique Broni Yeboah will have the opportunity to vindicate himself before the party’s disciplinary committee.

This follows Yeboah issuing a three-day ultimatum to the party to reverse his suspension, failing which he will take legal action.

Yeboah, along with the Assin Central Regional Chairman, Prof Richard Kofi Asiedu, were suspended for their role in suspending the constituency’s parliamentary candidate, Nurein Shiabu Migyimah.

In a letter dated July 3, addressed to the General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey, lawyers for Yeboah, demanded that the party rescind the suspension and provide their client with a fair hearing, citing procedural irregularities and a breach of natural justice.

The lawyers contended that the suspension violates the party’s constitution and internal regulations.

But in an interview with Selorm Adonoo on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Friday, Abraham Amaliba, NDC director of Conflict Resolution indicated that the suspended secretary was riding ahead of himself as he would be given a fair hearing by the party’s disciplinary committee.

“They are riding ahead of themselves. This suspension is like telling him to step aside while he is referred to the National Disciplinary Committee. So, he will have a day at the Disciplinary Committee. It is like a Public Officer who has misconducted himself and you don’t want him to continue to be there else his presence will further aggravate the situation.

“So, step aside and we will refer your matter to the disciplinary committee. At the disciplinary committee, he will be asked to exonerate himself.”

“…It could be soon. It could be next week when the party meets at its usual weekly meetings, we could just refer them…Nonetheless, he will have his day before the disciplinary committee to vindicate himself,” he stated.
