NLC summons CLOGSAG leadership to July 10 meeting –

The National Labour Commission (NLC) has summoned the leadership of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), to a meeting on Wednesday, 10 July 2024.

This comes after the association missed a previous meeting on Wednesday, 3 July 2024 due to concerns over the committee’s composition formed to address their issues.

CLOGSAG’s absence from the initial meeting was linked to the commencement of their strike, citing dissatisfaction with the panel’s makeup.

In response, NLC Executive Secretary Ofosu Asamoah confirmed the panel’s composition is under review and emphasised the importance of CLOGSAG’s participation in the upcoming session.

“Upon their notice, we requested the ministries involved to respond as well as the Office of the Senior Presidential Advisor who is leading the ministerial committee on the negotiation, which they duly did. A meeting was scheduled, and they wrote to us challenging the constitution of the panel,” Asamoah explained.

“The commission has looked at it and we have been directed to respond, referencing them to sections 136 and 178 of the Labour Act, and reschedule a meeting for July 10. Meanwhile, they are to call off the strike,” he added.

Asamoah stressed that dialogue is crucial for effectively addressing and resolving the concerns and demands of CLOGSAG members, urging the association to honour the next invitation.
