The Local Government Ministry has announced that it is taking steps to reclaim all lands being encroached upon across the country.
The Ministry as a result is working with working with stakeholders and the Lands Commission to secure Executive Instruments to protect lands from encroachment and has collaborated with Regional Coordinating Councils for additional measures.
Also, It is also actively pursuing legal actions to secure titles for lands, including a recent case in Cantonments where the claimant could not provide valid documentation.
The Local Government Ministry has through the Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority (LUSPA) warned the public against the usage of public lands for private development.
Indicating that Green belts, gardens, and parks usage cannot be altered without Parliament’s approval.
