Chef Smith breaks silence –

The manager of Ghanaian chef Ebenezer Smith, known as Chef Smith, has asserted that he and his client received an official email from the Guinness World Records (GWR) office declaring him a record holder.

This statement follows GWR’s denial of Chef Smith’s earlier claim on July 2, 2024, that he had attained a world record.

Speaking to Accra-based Hitz FM on July 3, 2024, Benny, Chef Smith’s manager, stated that he possessed an official communication from GWR affirming Chef Smith’s record.

Benny indicated unfamiliarity with GWR’s contradictory statements and emphasized the existence of the email declaring Chef Smith’s achievement.

Regarding concerns over the authenticity of Chef Smith’s claim, Benny suggested awaiting further clarification.

However, as of now, Benny has not provided a copy of the purported email from GWR.

Chef Smith initiated his cooking marathon on February 1, 2024, at the Amadia Shopping Centre in Spintex, Accra, cooking for 820 hours until March 6, 2024, falling short of his initial goal of 1,200 hours.

On July 2, 2024, Chef Smith announced during a press conference in Accra that he had been recognized by GWR as a record holder.

However, GWR’s Public Relations Manager, Madalyn Bielfield, subsequently confirmed that Chef Smith’s presented certificate for the longest cooking marathon by an individual was not authentic.

The current record holder remains Alan Fisher, not Chef Smith.
