Jubilation In Police Over Rumours Of IGP Removal

Rumours circulating within the Ghana Police Service have sparked jubilation among some officers over the possible removal of Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

Unconfirmed reports hint that Dr. Dampare has been reportedly asked to proceed on leave with immediate effect and hand over the reins to his second-in-command, Christian Tetteh Yohuno.

Dampare leadership of the police administration is said to have dampen the moral of officers killing the esprit de corps among personnel.

Speculations suggest that Dr. Dampare’s removal could be related to the leaked tape scandal that had recently undergone investigation by parliamentary committee chaired by Abuakwa South MP, Samuel Atta Akyea.

Even though the MPs gave him a clean bill of health, Dampare was said to be economical with the truth as he was said to have lied in several instances.
His call logs indicated that he was in bed with Daniel Bugri Naabu, but he openly lied that he had no contact with the former NPP Northern Regional Chairman.

Another source said the IGP is being removed over allegations of insorbodination.

While these reports remain unverified, the news has stirred up mixed reactions within the Service, with some expressing relief and others awaiting official confirmation and the next steps in this developing situation.
