I will bring down Mount Everest to give NPP victory – Salam Mustapha promises IYDU –

The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has assured his commitment to leading the youth front of the party to deliver victory in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking at the opening of a two-day International Young Democrat Union (IYDU) Conference in Accra on Friday, June 28, 2024, Salam Mustapha expressed confidence in the NPP’s victory against the leading opposition, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“I have absolute belief in the young people of the NPP seated here and across the world, and across the country watching us wherever they are. I have absolute confidence in our ability to deliver victory, and that is what keeps me going. When I wake up and see these fiery young people with a singular belief in purpose that we can make it, it keeps me on my toes, and together we will lead a strong pack. As the national youth organiser, I will not relent; my commitment remains unbroken, unwavering, and unsoiled. If it takes me going to where my friend is to bring down Mount Everest for the NPP to win the next election, promise made, I tell you, I will do it,” he stated.

He noted his conviction of a victory for the NPP, emphasising the supremacy of the ruling party against the opposition NDC in terms of policy and performance.

“As you are aware, this year is a very tough one for us. We are going into a very crucial election in December. It is our fervent belief that we are going to win that election because, by far and large, this party, the New Patriotic Party, is far better than our opponents, the NDC. In terms of performance, we have far outperformed the NDC in every facet of our society; education, health, agriculture—take every sector, we have outperformed the NDC.”

He emphasised the need for the Union to continue to hold onto its Centre-Right ideals and be at the forefront of passing them onto the next generation.

“My cow is my cow, and it is my responsibility to grow my cow and take care of it. If I want to sell it, I sell it, and if I want to kill it, I kill it and do whatever I want with my cow. But we cannot have a cow and you tell me that all of us own the cow, so at any point in time, if I say let’s kill the cow, somebody would also say that no, let’s not kill the cow, and there is always confusion. That is the kind of ideology that socialist people hold, and I don’t think it is anything to go by.

“That is why we have the best ideology, and it is up to us to ensure that this ideology never dies. The only people who can carry it on are the young people, and that is us. So the party keeps on relying on us to ensure that this tradition continues; it never dies. For me and my colleagues here in Ghana, part of the New Patriotic Party which holds a strong, firm belief in the Centre-Right ideology, we will continue to do our very best to ensure that we remain on top…” he stated.

Salam Mustapha expressed gratitude to the leadership of the IDU for hosting the 2024 Council Meeting and Conference in Ghana.
