Former CEO of GIPC, Mawuena Dumor Trebarh to be buried today –

Former CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Mawuena Adzo Dumor Trebarh, will be laid to rest today, Saturday, 29 June,2024.

The burial service is scheduled to take place at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Adabraka, Accra, at 7 am. The dress code for the service is black.

A thanksgiving service for Mrs. Trebarh, who passed away on April 10, will follow at the same Cathedral at 9:30 am on June 30. The attire for this event is black and white.

Ahead of the funeral, friends and sympathizers visited the residence of Prof. Ernest Dumor, Mrs. Mawuena Trebarh’s father, to sign a book of condolence.

Mrs. Trebarh, known as the pioneering first female CEO of the GIPC, tragically passed away just one day before her birthday.

In a touching display of support, mourners continue to share tributes to comfort and support Prof. Dumor, a respected academic, in the wake of this untimely loss.

Her passing comes a decade after the death of her brother, Komla Dumor of the BBC—a sorrow that Prof. Dumor and the family still grapple with.

In a heartfelt interview, Prof. Ernest Dumor revealed that he continues to mourn his late wife and son, even after several years.

Since Mawuena’s passing, there has been an outpouring of sympathetic messages aimed at consoling Prof. Dumor.

Mawuena Trebarh leaves behind a legacy of remarkable achievements in both the private and public sectors.

Throughout her distinguished career, she achieved numerous milestones, including becoming the first female CEO of the GIPC and the first female underground exploration geologist in the Ashanti Region.

Born in April 1971 in Ghana, Mawuena Trebarh pursued her education at the University of Jos in Plateau State, Nigeria, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Mining.

Continuing her education, she obtained an MBA in Management and Strategic Planning from the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Mawuena Trebarh held pivotal roles in various organizations, showcasing her expertise and leadership.

She served as Corporate Services Executive at MTN Ghana, overseeing corporate communications, government and regulatory relations, legal affairs, and company secretarial duties.

Additionally, Mawuena Trebarh managed communication strategies for Newmont Ghana Ltd and made significant contributions to the development of gold deposits in Ghana and other African nations.

She is survived by her husband, Flt. Lt. Divine Trebarh, their daughter Katherine Joy, her father Prof. Dumor, and her brother Dr. Korshie Dumor.
