Shamefully justify why cement prices have increased by GHC87 under Akufo-Addo – Bridget Otoo fires at “NPP fool soldiers” –

Ghanaian journalist, Bridget Otoo, has criticized the Akufo-Addo-led government over the significant rise in cement prices.

In a recent post on X, Mr Otoo highlighted the stark contrast in price increases between the administrations of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to Bridget Otoo, from 2009 to 2016, under the NDC government, cement prices rose by 7 cedis.

However, she stated that from 2017 to 2024, under the NPP administration, prices have surged by an alarming 87 cedis.

“I hope NPP fool soldiers will justify why the increment from 2009-2016 is worse than from 2017 to 2024… as they are doing shamelessly without success with the dollar to cedi rate,” Otoo stated.

Critics argue that the government’s policies have not adequately addressed these issues, resulting in higher costs for essential goods and services.

Meanwhile, the Akufo-Addo-led government has indicated that global economic conditions and supply chain disruptions have played significant roles in the price hikes.

The government has maintained that the government is working diligently to stabilize the economy and address these external pressures.
