Tension In NDC Northern Region Over Haruna Iddrisu’s Boy Dismissal By Fifi Kwetey

In a recent development within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Northern Region, Alhaji Mohammed Aminu, a prominent supporter of former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, has been sacked from his position by Fifi Kwetey, General Secretary of the party.

He faced allegations from anti-Haruna factions of orchestrating the selection of pro-Haruna candidates, resulting in internal strife within the NDC Northern Region.

The ongoing discord within the party has led to further tension, with recent announcements regarding leadership changes.
A communique sent out from the Party Headquarters shed light on the latest decisions taken within the conflict-ridden region.

The letter disclosed that an appeal had been lodged against the appointment of Aminu Mohammed Adam as the Director of Elections for the Northern Region. Following a review by the Conflict Resolution Directorate, it was recommended that Mr. Aminu Mohammed Adams step aside to allow for a new appointee.

Subsequently, during a meeting held on April 23rd, 2023, the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) extensively discussed the issue and endorsed the Directorate’s ruling, appointing Arnold Mashud as the new Director of Elections for the Northern Region.

Party members in the Northern Region have been formally notified of Mr. Mashud’s appointment and are encouraged to collaborate and support him in driving the party towards success in the upcoming elections.

As tensions persist within the NDC Northern Region, the reshuffling of key personnel highlights the ongoing power struggles and realignments within the political landscape.
