Propaganda won’t help NDC win Election 2024

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team, has responded to criticisms from Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, the running mate of John Dramani Mahama, regarding the NPP’s campaign slogan.

During an engagement with female media professionals in Accra, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang cautioned Ghanaians to be wary of the New Patriotic Party’s 2024 campaign slogan, “It is possible.”

She argued that the ruling party has a track record of failing to deliver on its promises, citing recent events as evidence.

Specifically, she pointed to the protests by pensioner bondholders at the Finance Ministry, who are demanding the release of their funds as a clear indication of the government’s inability to fulfil its commitments.

In an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Face to Face on Channel One TV, Dennis Miracles Aboagye dismissed Prof. Opoku Agyemang’s claims, stating that such negative rhetoric will not resonate with Ghanaians in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections.

He expressed confidence that the electorate would see through the opposition’s tactics and instead focus on the tangible achievements and vision of the NPP.

“We’re serious in this election, propaganda will not wash, tweak and twist will not wash. I’m telling you that anybody that wants to hold Dr Bawumia as Vice President responsible, to say that you are Vice President do everything you’re promising today, should not come and talk to me about Mahama, he was President,” he stated.

Miracles Aboagye dismissed Mahama’s claims that Dr. Bawumia is complicit in the economic challenges and lacks the competence to lead Ghana, labelling such assertions as “bogus”.

He turned the tables on the opposition, questioning why Prof. Opoku Agyemang failed to reform the education sector during her tenure as Education Minister, and why she is now waiting for her party to return to power to implement meaningful changes.

Moreover, he questioned the audacity of Mahama, who failed to deliver on his promises during his presidency, to now criticise Dr. Bawumia for being part of a government managing a struggling economy.

“Did you ever read anywhere that they say that a good leader is the one who doesn’t encounter challenges? A good leader is one who in the midst of challenges is able to mobilise the people and get them out of it, giving them confidence and courage that it is possible. So, when I hear this argument of why didn’t you do it? It doesn’t add up, it’s not logical.

He added, “[Prof Naana Opoku Agyemang], she was the minister of education, in fact, the former President [Mahama] says that when he becomes President, he will give her oversight of education. What is she coming to fix? Why didn’t she fix it when she was the education minister? The former President says that when he becomes President, he will give us a 24-hour economy. He was President, why didn’t he bring us the 24-hour economy?

“So, you see, that argument is bogus, it is flat, we shouldn’t even go there. The reason why we elect leaders is that challenges will continuously come, we want leaders who in the midst of challenges, work with us to get it out.

“Former President Mahama, all the things he’s promising, why didn’t he do it when he was President? Did he do them?.”
