American rapper Travis Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster, was arrested in Miami on Thursday at around 01:45 local time.
The Miami Beach Police Department detained the 33-year-old on suspicion of disorderly intoxication and trespassing after responding to a disturbance at the Miami Beach Marina. Officers were called to reports of a fight on a yacht, where they encountered Scott shouting at people on the vessel.
The police report indicates that Scott smelled strongly of alcohol and initially complied with officers’ instructions to leave the dock.
However, he soon returned, yelling obscenities and disregarding officers’ commands, which led to his arrest. Scott’s legal representative, Bradford Cohen, described the incident as a “misunderstanding,” emphasizing that no physical altercation occurred.
Travis Scott is a prominent figure in the hip-hop industry, boasting 10 Grammy nominations. He shares two children with Kylie Jenner.
His European tour is set to begin in the Netherlands on 28 June, with performances in London and Manchester in July. This incident follows the tragic 2021 Astroworld festival in Houston, Texas, where 10 fans died in a crowd surge.
Although Scott did not face criminal charges, he is still involved in civil litigation related to the event. His recent album, Utopia, topped the UK charts shortly after a planned concert in front of Egypt’s pyramids was canceled.
