The Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in South Africa, Wilbertina Buxton, has released a song to support the NDC campaign for the 2024 general election.
The rationale for the song is to energize the NDC party base in preparation to oust the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) from office.
In an interview on Power 97.9 FM on Monday, June 3, she posited that, in assessing the economies of Ghana and South Africa where she is currently based, it appears that leadership in Ghana doesn’t care about its citizens.
Thus, she was compelled to use her musical talent to compose a song with the overarching dream of ensuring the NDC wins the 2024 general elections.
Ms. Buxton revealed that being a gospel musician herself, she felt impelled to release a song to support John Dramani Mahama, the NDC flagbearer. She emphasized that the song has been released on all NDC platforms worldwide and has received significant praise, especially from the NDC SA Chapter.
Addressing reactions from the general public regarding a gospel singer releasing a political song, the SA NDC Chapter Women’s Organizer averred that the song has been well-received since it addresses the current challenges faced by ordinary Ghanaians and advocates for a change in government.
She paid glowing tribute to Mr. Benjamin Quashie, the NDC SA Chapter Council of Elders Chair, for his unwavering support for the song, as well as all other individuals who have contributed to her journey thus far.
