A/R: Agyemang Prempeh I Int’l Airport will open up trade flows, investments

The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has celebrated the commissioning of the refurbished Kumasi International Airport, which has been renamed the Nana Agyemang Prempeh I International Airport, saying it will boost business activities and investment flows.

Mr. Ahiagbah on his X page said the commissioning “will undoubtedly open up the region for trade flows and investments” and also set “the stage for a rapid surge in development.”

 

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in the company of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Minister of Transport Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, and other dignitaries, commissioned the Nana Agyemang Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi on Friday, May 10.

The airport has a capacity to accommodate over 800,000 passengers annually, primarily from the northern and middle belt regions, due to the increasing demand for air travel.

In celebrating the commissioning, the elated Ahiagbah charged Ghanaians to vote for the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamud Bawumia, to continue  buitold on the government’s legacy to propel growth and prosperity.

“H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has successfully completed the expansion work at the Kumasi International Airport. As of today, it will be known as the Nana Agyemang Prempeh I International Airport. This remarkable investment will undoubtedly open up the region for trade flows and investments, setting the stage for a rapid surge in development. With your vote, Bawumia will add on to the legacy of growth and prosperity for our people. It’s possible!”

The renovated airport now features a parking lot, two boarding bridges, a road network, a perimeter fence, a substation, and a new terminal building that can accommodate one million passengers annually.

The airport is currently undergoing equipment testing for both domestic and international flights and is expected to commence full operations by June 2024.
