Ghanaian singer Gyakie has opened up about the emotional turmoil that inspired her to write her latest song, “December.”
Speaking in an interview on TV3, Gyakie shared that the song was born out of deep pain and disappointment from someone she deeply cared about.
She urged listeners to understand the depth of the song, emphasising that it wasn’t just a random creation but a reflection of her emotional state during a difficult period.
“It’s a song I created during one of my melancholy times,” Gyakie said. “Every line in the song is sincere; I’m not just writing lyrics. Someone disappointed me—a special someone.”
The singer also revealed the severity of her emotional struggle, mentioning that she even grappled with suicidal thoughts.
“I felt I needed to start again in terms of my sound. I felt disconnected from reality as well. So, from the start of the year, I used that time to discover myself,” she shared.
Gyakie’s candid revelation sheds light on the personal journey behind her music and adds a deeper layer of meaning to “December” for her fans.
