Help has finally arrived for veteran gospel musician Edward Akwasi Boateng after a video of him selling CDs and pen drives at a lorry station stop went viral.
In a touching show of generosity, a Ghanaian prophet by the name of Bernard gave Mr. Boateng a brand-new car, covered all of his children’s tuition fees to the university level, and promised him a monthly stipend.
On February 25, 2024, the man of God, who happens to be the founder and leader of The Spirit Life Revival Ministry, cordially welcomed Edward Akwasi Boateng to his Accra congregation.
Mr. Boateng, who could not believe what was unfolding right before his eyes, broke down in tears, expressing his overwhelming appreciation.
Edward Akwasi Boateng gained attention when he was seen selling pen drives and CDs containing his music at a bus station in Kumasi.
In a video, he was sitting on a bench with a megaphone, urging people to purchase his products.
Boateng revealed two years ago that his marriage was a turning point in his struggles, citing mistreatment and financial demands from his wife.
He had to sell 17 vehicles to cope with the situation. His recent public appearance has sparked online discussions, with some expressing concern for his well-being. Boateng is known for hits like Makoma So Ade, Kae Asem A Waka, Mebo Wodin among others.

The veteran gospel musician was seen selling pen drives containing his songs in Asafo, Kumasi on Tuesday, February 20, to generate funds for his children’s school fees. The video has shocked many people who have questioned why a respected musician like him would find himself in such a situation.
As a result of the viral video, Akoma FM, a subsidiary of Media General, reached out to the gospel musician and invited him for an interview. Akwasi Boateng refuted the notion that his challenges were a result of mismanaging his wealth.
The veteran musician expressed his disappointment with the public’s perception, emphasizing that his life has been plagued with hardships instead.
“I have not been able to sleep for two days now because of the things I have heard and seen. On Tuesday my children came to me for their school fees but I did not have money and did not know how to get the money so I decided to sell my pen drives to get the money. People are of the view that a musician like me with such a reputation, career and previously owned about 17 cars and now I’m selling my own pen drive. The false stories are many and when you say they distort the information,” he noted.
