My extravagant lifestyle on social media is to boost my brand, I am not rich – Medikal

Award winning Ghanaian rapper, Medikal has admitted that his extravagant social media persona is a fake and that he is not rich in real life.

The “Omo Ada” singer explained to Cookie Tee on Twitter that the lavish lifestyle he promotes is just for show and not to be taken seriously because of this.

Hollywood films were Medikal’s medium of choice in making his thesis. He said that his luxurious automobiles, vacations, and private aircraft are all fake, just like shooting and murdering.

“It’s all props, it’s like the Rambo movie, you see him with guns, shooting and killing, but in real life, he’s in The Bahamas chilling, that’s how it is.

“So, what you see on social media is an illusion. It’s just my brand. I don’t have anything. My fans know that whatever I don’t own, I won’t claim as my own. I’m not rich, I’m trying to survive, I’m a hustler just like everyone else,” he said.

With the help of his passionate fan base, Medikal has already achieved success with a number of well-known songs, such as Confirm and Forever My Love (co-written with Bisa Kdei). Also, on his most recent mixtape, B.A.R III: Lomi Era, 2016 Ghanaian music artist of the year E.L included a feature on him.

Medikal had the most nominations for the 2017 Ghana Awards, beating out other well-known artists including Sarkodie.

With persistence and several collaborations with well-known artists, Medikal has made a reputation for himself in the music industry. In 2018, IARA awarded him the finest African musician.

On some of his biggest tracks, he has worked with artists such as Bisa Kadie, Criss Waddle, Confirm Remix with Sarkodie, Connect, Sales, Heart Boy, and Medikal Bra Krom.
