Perseus Mining Ghana Limited has inaugurated a $508,000 market complex and a lorry park terminal at Denkyira Ayanfuri in the Upper Denkyira West District.
The project will provide comfort for transport operators, Market women, and travelers .
It was undertaken by the Perseus Mining Ghana Limited with support from the Upper Denkyira West District Assembly.
Speaking at the event Dr. Stephen Ndede (General Manager PMGL) said:
“I applauded the contractors for completing the job and the quality of the job done.
“I would want to use this special occasion to say a big thank you to the Chiefs and people of the Ayanfuri Community for their unflinching support towards PMGLC’s operations over the years. We have collectively worked together with the District Assembly to implement this project primarily because of the peaceful environment we have established.
“Nananom, through the Edikan Trust Fund which is the main driver of PMGL’s Corporate Social Responsibility, projects such as a Health Centre with Nurses’ quarters, 6-Unit Classroom blocks with ancillary facilities, Community Centres, ICT Centres, Provision of bursaries to students in tertiary institutions, etc. have been provided to our Catchment Communities.
“To date, PMGL has contributed close to GHS 15 million to fund development projects in the Catchment and Exploration Communities from annual contributions of $300,000.00 into the Trust Fund.
“Perseus is pleased to have associated itself with today’s gathering as we commission this Market and Lorry Station. The facility comprises of 3 Lorry Terminals, 6 market stalls, a place of convenience, and a fence wail to provide security. It is worth mentioning that a total of $508,000 has been spent on the project being commissioned today.
“I am pleased to be here this day. My advice to traders and drivers is for them to adhere to Assembly directives and move back to the terminal to enhance its effectiveness.”
