14-Year-Old Student Death: High Court Adjourns N10 Billion Suit Against School

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has adjourned further hearing on the controversial death of Keren-Happuch Aondodoo, a 14-year-old pupil of Premiere School, Lugbe, Abuja.

According to punchng.com, a clerk of court said a new date would be communicated as the judge was unavoidably absent as she went for a conference for judicial officers.

The female student had sepsis after she was allegedly defile in her boarding school and died on the 22nd of June, 2021.

The family filed a N10 Billion Suit Against the school. Vivien Akpagher, the mother of the deceased, accused the school of negligence and failure to care for her daughter.

The plaintiff, through her team of lawyers, told the court that despite her demand that the police should retrieve CCTV footage of June 15 and 16, 2021, which she said reveal how her daughter was sexually abused as well as the identity of her abuser as the defendant refused to yield to the request.

The mother is also praying the court that an additional N10 million for the emotional, mental, psychological and physical stress she was subjected to, following the demise of her daughter.

The defendant had earlier approached the court to dismiss the suit on the ground that the name of the school was not properly spelt, which was struck out.

The counsel to the plaintiff said they have prayed the court for an order, restraining the defendants, by themselves, their agents and privies from threatening the plaintiff and her allies, pertaining to the suit, during and after the trial.
