DreamChild Foundation, the organisers of the second edition of the HoodTalk Festival, has been applauded by patrons for the spectacular event turnout and showmanship.
The event, which was held last Saturday, September 30 at the Jubilee Park in Tamale, attracted thousands of music lovers from all walks of life.
The concert aims to create awareness about the fundraising efforts of the DreamChild Foundation to build pediatric clinics.
It is a national event which has received endorsement from the Office of the President, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, DJs Union of Ghana (DJUGA), Ministry of Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection and UNESCO.
It was a night of danceable tunes from talented performers in an all-star lineup. That’s exactly what HoodTalk Festival gave Tamale music fans, living up to the expectations and satisfaction of Ghanaians.
An ecstatic crowd of over 40,000 made up of Ghanaian music fans from all walks of life thronged the venue to partake in the event. It was an all-night affair which provided non-stop entertainment.
Organised by the DreamChild Foundation in partnership with Virtual Hub, the event treated the thousands of music fans within the Northern Regional capital who turned up to some great music and performances. The technical production was on par with international standards. Virtual Hub logistics showed their capabilities by providing the best of lighting and effects, including pyrotechnics and superb quality sound.
The night was a celebration of the indigenous culture and also platform for the local talents to thrill a wider audience.
The likes of ‘Sama Noli’ hitmaker Bala Zaaku, Bamaaya, Rap Dee, Awhite Maiga, Future Ruler, Arnold Dery, Yung Shark, Walugu Lana, and George Cliff among others did not disappoint their loyal fans as they served them with the best of their hit songs.
The event also witnessed performances from acts such as Maccasio, Fad Lan, Abu Sadiq, Umar Janda, Flawer Gaskia, among others.
They turned the venue on fire, making music fans dance to show appreciation to the live performance, which left patrons on their feet for hours. It was an action-packed show of stage performances displayed by all the artistes.
The night’s MC, DJ Tell was a delight, keeping the massive crowd that had gathered for the concert engaged throughout the night.
Speaking on behalf of the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, the Chief Director of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC), Alhaji Alhassan Issahaku thanked the DreamChild Foundation for their efforts in the region and for organising the concert.
“Indeed this is a night for fun and merry-making and you must enjoy yourself. Beyond the fun and merry-making, we need to reflect on why we are here. The concern is about our health and the health of our children. Health is priceless and the health of our young ones is even more so,” he said.
The festival aims to help unite voices for the betterment of the African child and also help empower and support African children by harnessing the power of music and arts through community engagement.
DreamChild Foundation aims to raise a provisional sum of $14 million for the construction of five pediatric clinics to ensure that children’s health is made a priority.
Due to the turnout at Tamale, organisers say the Kumasi event has been postponed to enable them to present an even bigger durbar style show in Kumasi.
The next event is scheduled for Ho in Volta Region on November 18, and December 9 at the Black Star Square.
