Chief Agronomist with HJA Africa Ltd, Mr Gilbert Osei, has advised Ghanaian farmers to patronize locally produced organic fertilizers for farming as a result of the change in weather patterns in recent times.
He said climate change is gradually depleting the fertility levels of the soil meant for farming and therefore, organic-produced fertilizers are required to be used to give the soil the needed nutrients.
Mr Osei said Africa, in general, must adhere to ways of ensuring that the continent is not hit by food scarcity by using nutritious-soil-friendly locally produced fertilizers to ensure food sufficiency.
He emphatically suggested that OFA organic fertilizer, which is locally produced and climate-friendly must be used by farmers to increase yields. He made this call at a forum to educate and share the relevance of OFA Organic fertilizers for farmers and the need to use locally produced fertilizers as a result of climate discrepancies in Accra.
The CEO of HJA Africa Ltd, Henry Abraham, said OFA, (Organic Farming Aid) is a natural, non-toxic, multipurpose, liquid agro-input based on bio-char distillate.
‘OFA contains acetic acid and more than 100 organic compounds which act as plant micro-nutrients.
The importance of OFA to the farmers is highly cost-effective, it increases yields, controls many pests, and stops fungal attacks.
OFA increases farmer profits by improving farm productivity and the quality of crops produced, whilst also protecting farmer and consumer health, benefiting the environment, and reducing emissions of gases causing climate change.
