Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has set the record straight on his relationship and that of the Police Service with Bugri Naabu, a former Northern Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Bugri Naabu and three senior Police officers, COP Alex Mensah, Supt. George Asare and Supt. Emmanuel Eric Gyebi have been summoned before a Parliamentary Committee probing a secret audio recording involving them plotting against the IGP to remove him from office.
The officers, during the parliamentary probe, leveled several allegations against the IGP for which reason he has also been summoned before the Committee.
Answering questions on whether Bugri Naabu has visited him before, the IGP responded in the negative stressing “I want to respond to the fact that it’s one of the falsehoods that have been put out there in the public domain. He has no dealings and I hear some contract, nothing”.
