It Is Not A Doom Prophecy: Kwesi Pratt Declares As He Predicts An Increase In Prices This Year

The managing editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has reacted to the recent labor unrest in the early parts of this year especially as TEWU has declared strike today over the unsettled allowance. Speaking on the Good Morning Ghana show on Metro TV, Kwesi Pratt stated that the government has to borrow in order to settle these accumulated unpaid allowances to workers.

He expressed surprise at the manner in which this government or administration is still making promises despite their inability to settle the allowances of government workers. He added that even if the e-levy is accepted and collected at the fullest capacity, the government will not be able to pay the allowances of the workers. He later added his voice to that of all economic tink tanks.

“If you look at the trends, you do not need a Professor of Economics to predict that by the end of this year, we should expect some 30 percent increase in the prices of goods and services. That is not a doom say prophecy but a reality”, Kwesi Pratt emphasized.
