The leadership of the NPP has urged the party’s caucus in parliament to hold on with their call for the removal of the Finance Minister until he reads the 2023 budget.
The meeting on Tuesday, November 22, was to find a possible solution for the discord among the NPP MPs in parliament.
A communique signed by Frank Annoh Dompreh(Majority Chief Whip) and Justin Kodua Frimpong(General Secretary) disclosed that the party has agreed for President Akufo-Addo to act on the demands of the MPs to sack the Finance Minister after the budget is read and appropriated.
Although there is an amicable consensus among members of the NPP MPs to put their differences aside and support the reading of the 2023 budget, the Minority has reignited Ken’s impeachment as they have filed a motion of censure against him.
“In the meantime, the Leadership of the Parliamentary group and the Leadership of the Party counselled the Honourable Members of the Parliamentary Party to resort to the Caucus communications channels and, to the largest extent possible, work together as one Caucus unit,” the statement read.
It concluded that all members are to attend Government Businesses in the House, the 2023 Budget Statement and Economic Policy.
On Tuesday, October 25, in a press conference, the Majority MPs stated that they were displeased with the management of the economy under Ken Ofori-Atta. They signed a petition to the President asking him to sack the Finance Minister.
98 NPP MPs demanded the immediate removal of the Finance Minister, accusing him of economic mismanagement.
